On the passenger seat her phone vibrated: David. There was no point saying goodbye; he would be upset and angry. The radio said six hours – how they knew was beyond her. The host must not have a family to be with. Married to the job. She hadn’t phoned but hoped he would expect her. They’d both moved on but there was no love like a first love. The sky flickered. The scientists said it would be like switching off a light; sudden and they wouldn’t feel a thing. But she would feel something, back with the man she loved.
