We’re delighted to announce Reflex Press will be publishing An Approach to Black, a novella by Emily Jeremiah.
An Approach to Black explores fictional Finnish artist Anna S and her legacy. Anna married another artist, Eino S, in the late nineteenth century. Eino became famous for his idyllic evocations of family life. Anna, meanwhile, went mad. In present-day London, two people are driven to try and understand her: Jonathan, a young artist who is descended from Anna; and Emma, a retired academic who is writing a book about her. The work deals with female agency and creativity, as well as desire and madness.
An Approach to Black will be published in early 2021. Subscribe to our email newsletter for preorder information and subscriber discounts.
